COLERAINE Court has heard ‘footage’ on social media is ‘supposed to relate to taunting of other football fans’.
The comment was made in connection with four men accused of being disorderly in the Bushmills Road area of Coleraine on September 17 last year.
Coleraine were playing Motherwell in a Europa League match at the nearby Coleraine Showgrounds on the date in question.
The accused all have Coleraine addresses – Benn Barbour (18), of Portrush Road; Christopher Boreland (23), of Loguestown Park; Stephen Archer (25), of Hillview Park; and John Doherty (57), of Queens Court.
At Coleraine Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, defence solicitor Garrett Greene said he believed “CCTV” had been posted to his office by prosecutors in connection with the case.
Mr Greene said it was an “unusual” case which “relates to a social media post”.
He said “footage” was “subsequently taken down.”
Mr Greene said “some individual” had put a post on social media “which is supposed to relate to taunting of other football fans”.
He said there were issues over whether the footage could be “proved as genuine”.
Full details of the case have yet to be outlined in court.
The cases have been adjourned to February.
