Coleraine – Deliberate Fire – Anderson Park

1 Mins read

NIFRS attended a deliberate fire this evening at Anderson Park in Coleraine at 21.13hrs.

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community Councillor McCandless said that he had noticed a fire appliance in Circular Rd. @ 21:22.

“When I stopped at the Park the firemen were putting out a fire at one of the trellises with the wisteria growing from it.

It was well alight and on checking it later the trailing plant had been totally destroyed and the timbers charred.

This is yet another in the catalogue of wanton vandalism in Anderson’s Park and another waste of time for members of the NIFRS and the needless expense incurred.

I had been speaking to C.I. Ian Magee earlier prior to a meeting of the PCSP in Ballymoney concerning Anderson’s Park.

I appreciate that the PSNI in Coleraine have been active in attempts to apprehend those engaged in the ASB in the area.

The Summer break from school will be upon us and I would appeal to parents again, please be aware where your children are as the PSNI will not tolerate this ASB.

Unfortunately many of the beauty spots in Anderson’s Park have been destroyed over the past year and I would appeal to the PSNI to be extra vigilant over the coming weeks.

The residents of the area have endured this over the past year and wish to see an end to it.”
