Coleraine man appears in Court following ‘Armed Siege’ in Mountsandel

A Coleraine man appeared in Ballymena Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with a number of offences including possessing an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

43-year-old Mark Kelly from Knockantern Grove appeared in court facing a total of five charges. Three charges of possessing a gun or imitation gun; one of assaulting police and one of resisting police.

These charges relate to an incident in Coleraine on Tuesday afternoon when Heavily Armed police descended upon a house in the Mountsandel area of the town.

Mark Kelly was remanded in custody to appear again on September 12th
