A Coleraine man who entered the town in breach of court bail conditions claimed he was told by police he was allowed back.

Russell Cummins (30), originally with an address at Lisnablagh Road, appeared at the town’s Magistrates Court on New Year’s Eve in connection with the breach.

At court he was released on £250 bail to stay an address approved by police.
He is not to go into Coleraine unless attending court or seeing a GP; he is tagged; has a curfew and he is barred from entering licenced premises and also has an alcohol prohibition.

The case was adjourned to January 7.

Cummins is accused of wounding a female with intent to do her grievous bodily harm on April 2, 2018.
He is also alleged to have possessed an offensive weapon – a knife – with intent to commit an indictable offence and he is also charged with assaulting another female occasioning her actual bodily harm.
