Coleraine motorist is banned for a year

1 Mins read

A Coleraine woman has been banned from getting behind the wheel for a year and fined £500 for driving whilst uninsured and use of a certificate of insurance with intent to deceive.

Debbie Kane (44), of James Street, was detected driving a Vauxhall Astra at Coleraine Road, Portrush, last November.

She was asked to produce her insurance and a number of days later she produced a certificate but it was discovered her policy had been cancelled the previous summer.

The defendant was not present at Coleraine Magistrates Court on May 13 but a defence solicitor said the November offences had arisen because Kane had financial difficulties.
