Coleraine slip to surprise defeat

1 Mins read

Coleraine suffered a surprise defeat in this afternoon’s Eventsec North West Senior Cup semi-final.

The Bannsiders went down 2-1 to Dergview at the Showgrounds.

Prior to kick off, players, officials and supporters observed a minute’s silence in memory of former player Robbie Brunton who passed away this week.
Today’s game served as the second of Eoin Bradley’s six-game suspension.

Manager Oran Kearney was hoping to clinch a place in next Saturday’s final – which would have used up a third game – but Championship outfit Dergview put paid to that with a goal in each half.

Despite Ben Doherty converting a 61st-minute penalty, the Bannsiders were unable to complete a comeback.

It means they have now failed to reach the final of the competition since 2017.
