A consultation period by the Department of Infrastructure to introduce 20 MPH restrictions at numerous schools throughout the Borough has opened.
The Order will introduce a part-time speed limit of 20 miles per hour on lengths of:
– Ballytober Primary School
– Drumrane Primary School
– Garryduff Primary School
– Carnalridge Primary School
– Bushvally Primary School
– ST. Matthews Primary School
– ST. Patricks & ST. Joseph’s Primary School
– Eden Primary School
– ST. Canice’s Primary School
The effect of the Order is that the current speed limit applicable to the lengths of the above, shall be reduced to 20 miles per hour when a 20 miles per hour limit is indicated by means of a variable message traffic sign.
Welcoming the consultation Alderman Joan Baird said “The new speed limits which are to be welcomed, will operate on a part time basis and should make arriving and leaving school much safer for children and their parents.”
