Council Success In Funding Application for Ballycastle Shared Sports Facility

Following Causeway Borough Council’s application for funding to the Peace 4 Shared Spaces Programme, the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) has confirmed that the Ballycastle Shared Education Campus has been awarded £2.6m for the community sports hub element.

Commenting, the DUP’s Cllr Trevor Clarke said:

“The DUP party grouping was pleased to take the lead in proposing that Council support the application for funding for the Ballycastle shared campus sports scheme. Officers are to be congratulated on their efforts in securing this funding.”

The Deputy Mayor continued: “The project will enhance the quality of sports provision in the Ballycastle area in a cost-effective manner. The scheme is a good example of community planning in practice, where schools have primary use of the sports facilities during the daytime, and the community has access to the facilities in the evenings and at weekends thus avoiding duplication of provision and maximising usage.

It also means Council’s own resources can be directed towards advancing other much-needed sports and recreation projects within the Borough.
