Council to honour ten WW2 veterans with silver poppy gift

1 Mins read

Last year Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council called for information about World War Two veterans who are from the Borough and have identified ten who are eligible for a Silver Poppy in conjunction with the Royal British Legions.

In September council agreed to present Silver Poppies to surviving veterans of WWII, following a motion tabled originally by Councillor McLean, seconded by Councillor McAuley.

A special reception and presentation of the silver poppies will be held on Monday 4th May in Cloonavin to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day on Friday 8th May.
