Ballymoney Councillor Darryl Wilson has spoken out after learning that the illegal drug ‘Crystal meth’ is being used in Ballymoney and surrounding areas.

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community Councillor Darryl Wilson said ‘Unfortunately, it has been brought to my attention that crystal methamphetamine (crystal meth) is now being used by teenagers in the Ballymoney area and across other parts of the Borough.

I don’t think you need me to highlight how serious a problem this is, we all know that this substance has a 100% success rate in ruining lives!

The misuse of prescription and illegal drugs seems to be on the increase from what I’m hearing on the ground.

Our efforts should be aimed towards cutting these substances off at source, targeting those who “deal in death”!

Information is critical to the PSNI as they attempt to tackle this issue, if you suspect someone is dealing drugs in your area report the crime by dialling 101, alternatively you can call confidentiality on 0800 555 111.

Going forward I intend to liase with the PSNI on a regular basis to gain a better understanding of what is actually being done to tackle this issue and to ensure that concerns are not falling upon deaf ears!’
