Independent Glens Councillor Padraig McShane said a comprehensive strategy of misinformation from senior executives in the council going back three years has manufactured a position of closure for Sheskburn House in Ballycastle.
Cllr McShane stated;
“Tonight at Corporate Policy and Resources – the first major attempt to close Sheskburn House. No consideration for Births, Deaths or Marriage. No consideration for all service provision. No consideration for office space use that is routinely rented out. In the last three years, Sheskburn has been the victim of death by 1000 cuts. The removal of staff was strategic to enhance the prospect of minimal impact on a EQIA. Nothing will happen over the next two years but tonight is the beginning of a major offensive to remove services from the Glens and Ballycastle.”
The Councillors Continued,
“All Ballycastle Councillors have been robust in their defense of service provision at Sheskburn House. But questions have been brushed aside with misinformation, if not, deception. Staff have also been cheated as questions voicing genuine concerns have been stonewalled.”
The councillor stated no downgrading of services will be allowed without the most robust of challenges.
