Ulster Unionist Councillor Darryl Wilson was recently asked to provide a list of defibrillator locations in the Ballymoney area to one of his constituents.
Cllr Wilson said “after receiving a request from a constituent I checked the relevant NIAS website to find that a majority of devices hadn’t been logged with the ambulance service”
“I would urge all businesses which have installed a defibrillator to ensure that it is registered, serviced and logged with the NI Ambulance service if this has not been done already. I would also urge all public and private sector departments that have the devices installed to highlight these regularly on their social media pages in a bid to familiarise the public with their locations ”
Cllr Wilson added
” It is vitally important that in the event of an emergency members of the public dial 999 first before reverting to other measures “
