Councillors Call for Evaluation of Portstewart Red Sails Festival

1 Mins read

Causeway Councillors Mark Fielding and Angela Mulholland, seconded by Councillor Chris McCaw, have successfully presented a motion to the Council calling for it to evaluate the contribution the Red Sails Festival makes to the Borough.

DUP Councillor Mark Fielding spoke of the history of the event and its importance to the town, and was followed by SDLP Councillor Angela Mulholland who said that, as a community event, it has made than just an economic contribution to the area. Alliance Councillor Chris McCaw spoke about the deep cross-community ethos of the event, which reflects the integrated spirit of the town of Portstewart itself. He also thanked the Portstewart Community Association for their hard work in making the event a success and wished their new committee the best of luck for the coming year.

The three councillors hope that their motion will bring more assistance and publicity to the event, which they believe benefits the whole area.
