A withdrawal statement has been made regarding a man accused of possessing a knife and maliciously wounding a woman with intent to do her grievous bodily harm.

Coleraine Magistrates Court was told of the development in the case on Monday as John Kenneth McNicholl (30), of Benevenagh Drive in Limavady, appeared via video link from prison.

The charges relate to July 26 this year.

The defendant had been accused of breaching a Violent Offences Prevention Order on July 17 this year by failing to attend an appointment with the Western Trust Mental Health Team but that charge has now been withdrawn.

The defendant’s solicitor was Garrett Greene.

The case has been adjourned to September 30.
