Journalists from a popular Danish golf travel magazine were in Northern Ireland this week, finding out all about golfing holidays here. Their visit was arranged by Tourism Ireland and supported by Tourism NI.
Golfers Globe is a monthly magazine, with more than 100,000 copies distributed around Denmark. As well as researching an article about Northern Ireland for the magazine, the team also filmed footage here for the online version of the magazine.
During their visit, the journalists travelled along the Causeway Coastal Route, stopping off at The Gobbins, Ballintoy and the Giant’s Causeway. In addition to filming at Royal Portrush – home to The 148th Open, – they captured footage at Portstewart and Castlerock golf clubs. The team spent time at Titanic Belfast, as well as in Co Down, where they visited Spelga Dam, Annalong and Murlough Bay and filmed at Royal County and Royal Belfast golf clubs.
Aileen Hickey, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Nordic Region, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite Golfers Globe magazine to visit Northern Ireland. Fact-finding visits like this are a really effective way for us to get positive exposure for Northern Ireland through the media here. Tourism Ireland is undertaking an extensive programme of promotions in the Nordic countries, and elsewhere around the world, to highlight Northern Ireland and The 148th Open at Royal Portrush.”
