Philip McGuigan MLA

Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has said decisive and co-ordinated action is required to deal with coronavirus and called for the immediate closure of schools.

Mr.McGuigan said:

“Both the World Health Organisation and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control are advocating such an approach as a means to be more effective in slowing the spread of the virus.”

“Most nations across Europe have made the decision to close schools, universities, colleges and other public venues. Sinn Féin are advocating and supporting this approach. We need other parties on the Executive to agree to this but until that happens, I fully support Boards of Governors that are taking the decisions themselves.”
