A judge told a man who was disorderly outside a house in Ballykelly on New Year’s Eve it appeared to be a situation were “demons got the better of you”.
Lee Anthony McMichael (39), originally with an address at Kings Lane, Ballykelly, but whose address is now listed as McCurry Walk in Limavady, was at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday for sentencing on charges of being disorderly and also causing criminal damage to the front door of a property on December 31 last year.
A prosecutor said the defendant “kicked, punched and banged the door” of the property and it was alleged he “made threats”.
The lawyer said damage was caused to the front door which was repeatedly kicked and the defendant was arrested.
During a police interview, the defendant admitted being at the property and being in an “agitated state” but denied his actions caused any damage and denied making any threats to the people inside.
After reading a pre-sentence report, Deputy District Judge Peter Magill told the defendant: “This would appear to be a situation were your demons got the better of you for whatever reason”.
He put the defendant on Probation for 18 months.
