Despite being one of the worst days of the year the Duck Dive Committee were able to hand the RNLI an impressive £1,700. The event, which took place on St Paddy’s Day at the Herring Pond in Portstewart was sponsored by Shenanigans who kindly laid on piping hot Irish Stew and other goodies for the swimmers who volunteered for a soaking on such a cold and wet day.

Maggie McWilliams of Shenanigans praised the enthusiasm and bravery of them all including the spectators who turned up in their hordes to lend support.

The committee were overwhelmed with the support of the local business community who gave so generously for the charity raffle and auction which was also held at the sponsoring venue.

Johnny Bradley, the outgoing Chairman also praised the hard work of the committee who included Charlie Adjey, Richard Briggs, Darren Wallace, Michael Rafferty, Hector Wishart and Brian Moore
