The SDLP has selected Connor Duncan as its candidate in the forthcoming Assembly election for the North Antrim constituency.
Speaking after the announcement, Mr Duncan said:
“I’m delighted to have been selected as the SDLP North Antrim candidate. After less than a year since the last election, the government has imploded under the weight of scandal after scandal leaving public confidence in politics and in politicians shattered. Enough is enough.
“This Executive has heaped austerity upon austerity on the people of North Antrim and all the while they were doling out millions to people heating empty sheds. We have pensioners struggling to keep their homes warm while an elite class of politicians’ mates were being paid to keep their chickens warm. That is a perversion of the priorities a government should have.
“It’s time to change politics. As part of a new generation of political activists, I’m energised by the opportunity to root out corruption and deliver on the issues that matter to people here – restoring employment in this area, delivering better health services, forging an education system that meets the needs of our children.
“The electorate has a choice on March 2nd, they can back the same parties who can’t work together and don’t want to work together or they can make change happen by voting for the SDLP and an alternative government.”
