Dunloy left off the map – McLaughlin

1 Mins read

Sinn Féin Councillor Cathal McLaughlin has asked Transport Ni to review its signage on the slip roads and roundabouts on the new section of the A26 to include directions to the village of Dunloy.

Cllr. McLaughlin said :

“The new road layout is a great success in decreasing journey times and increasing safety of road users. For people not used to the new layout advance signage to the various towns is also important. Anyone travelling from Belfast direction along the A26 or crossing over the flyovers is well signposted to the villages and towns of Rasharkin, Cloughmills, Clough, Ballymoney, Ballycastle and Loughgiel. One obvious omission, particularity at the Ballycastle roundabout, is directional signs to the village of Dunloy.

“Many people travel from across County Antrim, and further afield, to Dunloy to attend GAA games, attend functions, visit friends, wakes and funerals. Some may be travelling there for the first time, or for the first time since the road layout has changed. There is no directional signage or mention of Dunloy until you reach the bottom of the Station Road. Given that Dunloy is a sizeable village, sitting a small distance off the A26 this is unacceptable. I have written to Transport NI asking them to rectify this by adding Dunloy to the directions at the Ballycastle Roundabout and on other signs as required.”
