DUP Assembly member, George Robinson, attends meeting with senior management of City of Derry Airport

1 Mins read

East Londonderry DUP Assembly member, George Robinson, has attending a meeting with senior management of City of Derry Airport, Causeway Coast & Glen Borough Council arranged at the airport managements request.

“I firstly want to congratulate the airport management on the speedy re-introduction of the Stansted route. The loss of Flybmi operating the route was a severe blow, and the hard work of the airport team and willingness of Loganair to take over the route has to acknowledge. I fully appreciate the vital route that this route plays in the success of the airport and the connection of the North West to the rest of the UK and indeed the world. This is a route that both business and tourism can benefit greatly from.

Everyone was given an extensive tour of the airports facilities and it was obvious to all how great the potential of the airport truly is in both the commercial and private aviation sectors. There was a very thorough presentation from the airport manager, Charlene Shongo, followed by an intensive discussion as to how both councils and the airport can be of mutual benefit and further to the North West in general.

The fact that a new route to Manchester is already announced to begin from the airport in May is very welcome and I hope there are other routes to follow. These would be well deserved as the dedication of the airport management team has to be commended. I look forward to continuing to work in support of the airport in the future” concluded Mr Robinson.
