East Londonderry DUP Assembly member George Robinson MLA has expressed disappointment at the withdrawal of the Londonderry Glasgow air route by Ryanair from November 2018.
“This route is one which many people have contacted me about as they used it to visit family friends or for leisure purposes. There is no doubt the withdrawal of the route is a huge disappointment to many locally. My relief is that Ryanair have stated they will be opening a route to Edinburgh in Winter 2018, so hopefully there will not be a prolonged break in a service to Scotland.
The news of the Edinburgh route also mean that the jobs and viability of the airport should be maintained. I am aware that many local people use the airport and, having spoken to the management team on several occasions, I am greatly aware of the tremendous asset that the airport is to the North West.
I also promise to do what I can to help the airport develop into the future” concluded Mr Robinson.
