Eason confirmed this evening that it will not reopen any of its stores in Northern Ireland.
In a statement, the company said: “Eason & Son (N.l.) Limited (‘Eason” or ‘the Company’) has today informed its 144 employees in Northern Ireland of its intention to commence a consultation process around proposals not to reopen its seven stores In Northern Ireland.
“The stores have been closed since the 23rd March because of Covid-19 and all employees are currently furloughed.
“The announcement follows a detailed review of the stores in Northern Ireland in the context of the devasting impact of Covid-19 on current and future trade and the implications of a number of other significant factors on the future prospects and sustainability of the business in Northern Ireland.”
