Emergency services attend sudden death in Portstewart

A spokesperson for Coleraine Coastguard said this morning ( Saturday 25th February )  “Shortly after 0930 on Friday 24th February Coleraine Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist PSNI Officers with an incident at Harbour Hill Portstewart.

Portrush Inshore lifeboat also proceeded to the scene.

A female casualty was quickly located in the water, recovered by the ILB crew and handed over to the Coastguard Team at Portstewart Harbour.

NIAS personnel were also tasked to the incident.

Sadly, in spite of the intensive efforts of all the emergency services involved, the casualty did not recover.”

A police spokesperson yesterday said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
