Excess Alcohol Driver Was ‘Braking Erratically’ At Coleraine’s Lodge Road Roundabout

POLICE spotted a Coleraine driver braking erratically as she approached lights at the Lodge Road Roundabout in the town and she also veered over lines.

When officers pulled over Evelyn Kennedy (53), of Ballycastle Road, they detected alcohol during the November 3 incident.

The defendant had an alcohol in breath reading of 93 with the legal limit being 35.

Defence barrister Thomas McKeever said the defendant was a “lady of good character” who was ashamed and embarrassed by her actions.

District Judge Liam McNally, speaking at Coleraine Magistrates Court on November 26, said it was a high reading but because of the guilty plea and a previous clear record he was keeping the driving ban down to 14 months along with a £300 fine.
