Family loyalties divided ahead of Motherwell tie

1 Mins read

There will be divided loyalties in the Ramsey household come September 17!

Lifelong Coleraine fan Steven’s wife Laura hails from Motherwell.

And her brother James Downey, a season ticket holder at Fir Park, is such a ‘Well fanatic that he is travelling over with friends… even though no fans will be permitted at the match.

Laura has lived in Coleraine since 2009 and the couple, who live in Drumard Drive, have three children… Coleraine daft Robbie (10) who plays for Coleraine Academy, Maya (9) and Lola (3).

“I have an Uncle lives here and we used to come and visit when I lived in Scotland,” explained Laura.

“I met Steven in 2008 and we travelled back and forward seeing each other for a year. We then decided to make a go of things and I’ve been here ever since.”

So where will loyalties lie come the big night?

“Steven has followed Coleraine all his life,” continued Laura.

“Coleraine is my home town now and I enjoy going to the matches.

“But Motherwell is where I’m from and I like to see them do well too!”

While Laura will be hoping Motherwell do well, Robbie will be very much on his Dad’s side.

“He’s Coleraine daft. He never has his Coleraine kit off him.

“He loves going to the big games and he will definitely be supporting Coleraine with Steven on the night!”
