Filling Station Robbed At Knifepoint

1 Mins read
BT Coleraine

A filling station on the Bushmills Road in Coleraine was robbed at knifepoint earlier this evening.

The shop has been closed for the evening. Two staff members were working at the time.

It is understood that the shop has been targeted 28 times over the years.

We have reached out to the PSNI for comment.

MLA Maurice Bradley who was going into the shop just after the robbery happened said: ‘I was informed that the shop was closing as it had been robbed at knife point and a sum of money had been stolen from the till.’

Bradley continued: ‘I believe this is the 28th robbery at this filling station over the years, and as far as I am aware, no-one has ever been brought to justice.

This is a business in the town providing a necessary service, it is popular and a busy forecourt and shop.

The staff are shaken, but thankfully no-one was hurt.

There are precautions in place in the shop to limit the amount of cash available, but none-the-less this is a severe crime and a robbery.

I will be asking the PSNI to pursue all avenues of enquiry in an effort to have those responsible brought to justice,’ concluded Bradley.

No further info at this time.
