Alderman John Finlay, DUP group leader on Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council has welcomed Cllr Aaron Callan’s move to the party from the UUP.
Commenting on Cllr. Callan’s move, Ald. Finlay said:
“As leader of the DUP group on Causeway Borough Council I am delighted to welcome Councillor Aaron Callan to the party and our local team.
Whilst Aaron will continue to serve as a Councillor for the Limavady District Electoral Area, he will now do so as a member of the largest and most representative Unionist party in our Council.
Cllr. Callan’s professional skills, economic insights and connections with the local community will add further depth and capacity to our councillor grouping. He will continue to put his constituents first, as do all DUP representatives.
His move is indicative of the continuing growth in support for Democratic Unionist policies on a range of issues, both in our own Council and across Northern Ireland.
People are fed up with the UUP’s approach to matters such as rates policy, scrutiny of Council performance and the delivery of capital schemes that are ‘pet projects’ of the Ulster Unionists and their Council allies in the SDLP and Sinn Fein. Cllr. Callan will find himself at home in the DUP grouping, where decision making is based on facts and undertaken for the benefit of all the ratepayers of the Borough.”
