The Union flag has been ripped down from Dunloy Orange Hall and Garryduff Orange Hall as it flew half mast in honour of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Independent Councillor William McCandless said “While a nation mourned and showed their respect for the passing of Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh, unfortunately there still exists an element of our society who cannot even sympathise with a great Lady who has lost her husband of 73 years, our beloved Queen.

“Flying our National flag at half mast is a mark of respect and that is not what our community was afforded by this cowardly despicable action.

“This act of intolerance must be condemned publicly by ALL political parties.”
