Free compost for Causeway Coast and Glens residents

1 Mins read
BT Coleraine

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is offering free compost to any resident who visits either Limavady or Dungiven Household Recycling Centres. This is Council’s way of acknowledging residents’ continued participation in the brown bin bio-waste recycling scheme and the recycling centre green waste collection. All of the materials collected in our brown bins and at the recycling centres are processed into compost.

It is a peat free, natural growing product, which provides all varieties of plants with the necessary nutrients for strong growth. In order to distribute the compost fairly, supplies will be limited to the equivalent of half a green garden bag each. Residents can bring their own bags to collect the material if they wish. Almost 9,000 tonnes of green garden materials was presented as waste last year. Council are now actively closing the resource loop and returning the materials collected to residents in the form of a useful resource.

The compost will be available at both sites until Saturday 13th May. For further information on the Brown Bin Bio-waste Scheme or any waste and resource management enquiry please visit www.causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk/live/bins-and-recycling or call the Environmental Services Department on 028 7776 0305.
