Shoppers and visitors to Coleraine town centre will soon be able to access the internet for free.  Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council this morning published a tender for a free public WIFI scheme in Coleraine town centre.

The appointed supplier will design and deliver a free public wifi scheme which will also include a suitable landing page and a associated town centre app.

The App will have the capability to provide a revenue source to contribute to the sustainability of the Digital project.

WIFI will be available in the following areas in Coleraine Town Centre,  Bridge St, Abbey St, Queen St, The Diamond, Stone Row, Bellhouse Lane, Church St, New Row, Park St, Anderson Park, Kingsgate St, Society St, Railway Road, and Waterside area.

It is understood that the project will be live by Friday 31st March 2017.

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community, Councillor Darryl Wilson said: “The introduction of free WiFi, which allows people to access the internet through their phone or other device whilst in the town, provides a great opportunity for people to have free instant, easy access to the Web which is a useful enhancement to many of our lives.

“The introduction of free WiFi is yet another way in which we are improving access to services and in turn helping local people and visitors get online.”
