The temporary siting & operation of a Panoramic Viewing wheel to site and operate between June 2021 & mid-September 2021 at The Crescent, Portstewart has been approved this afternoon.

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community Mayor Mark Fielding said “I am delighted that this application has been passed well in advance of next summer 2021. I encouraged the Panoramic wheel to come to Portstewart in the first place in 2019.

“The Panoramic Wheel was a positive good news story for Portstewart in 2019. It was a welcome addition to the tourist value of the town, to the summer season and visitor experience of Portstewart. Unfortunately because of the current pandemic it wasn’t possible for 2020 but I looking forward to its return in 2021.

The Planning Committee made the correct decision in agreeing with the Planning Officers recommendation to approve.

“The Wheel complemented the existing play facilities at the Crescent and proved a good location. The tourist attraction was something new to Portstewart for their summer period, it was beneficial which brought positivity to the area and was supported by visitors, locals, the Community Association, Traders and Councillors.
