Sinn Féin Councillor, Cara McShane, has welcomed progress on the Ballycastle to Ballymoney Greenway, with agreement secured at a recent Council committee to proceed to feasibility and outline business case.
Speaking after the Committee meeting Cllr Cara McShane, who has been a strong advocate of the scheme, said:
“This Greenway will be an off-road walking/cycle route between the two towns, transforming 27km of old railway between Ballycastle and Ballymoney, while passing tourist hot-spots such as the Dark Hedges bringing health and economic rewards for both residents and tourists.
“The agreement at Council’s Leisure and Development Committee will now allow this project to proceed to design stage.
“Clearly an awful lot of work and public consultation is still required for the project to be completely realised, but the fact that both the Council and the Department for Infrastructure are both committed is really positive.
