Harbourmaster Robert Anderson Saves The Day

PICTURE : NORMAN HILLIS

Due to a heavy swell last week the MV Hamburg, Cruise Ship could not anchor at its usual location in the West Bay in Portrush.

Local man and harbourmaster Captain Robert Anderson’s vast experience and excellent local knowledge came to the rescue of the 5,000 tonne vessel which had over 350 French passengers on board.

Mr Anderson was able to to find waters off the Skerries that were calm enough to let the passengers off. Mr Anderson guided the Russian shipmaster through the gap at the large and small islands known as Broadsound.
