UUP councillor Alderman Norman Hillis has expressed disappointment and surprise at news that the Mini Rally cannot cross the Harbour Bridge in Portrush this year due to structural problems.
Alderman Hillis said : “It has always been a great feature of the hugely popular Mini Rally that the smaller mini cars crossed the Portrush Harbour Bridge at the Harbour Bar during their tour of the town.
I am very disappointed to learn that due to some structural problems concerning the bridge the cars are barred from using it. A full structural survey has been ordered due to Health & Safety concerns. I am told that the Bridge is still safe for pedestrians.
Let us all hope that this will not detract from a wonderful Mini weekend.”
