Health service needs investment not cuts – McGuigan
Speaking after attending the Northern Health Trust Board meeting on a proposed £70 million cut to the Health Budget Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan said;
“The Northern Trust announced it is cutting its budget by £13 to meet its share of the overall £70million to the Norths Health budget. The proposals announced here today to meet that £13 million are going to have a major impact on the service provided and by extension on patient care right across the Northern Trust area.
“What this means for patients and health service users is less hospital beds in Causeway and Antrim hospitals, it means longer waiting lists, it means less nurses and doctors, it means people staying longer in hospital because care packages cannot be put in place for them at their homes.
