Houses evacuated in Portrush as Firefighters tackle blaze at Derelict Building

A number of homes in Portrush were evacuated this morning whilst Firefighters tackled a fire at a derelict building in the Glenmanus Park area of the town.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said:

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a call at 7:10am to a report of a fire at derelict premises at the Glenmanus Park area of Portrush this morning (Friday 7th October).

“2 Fire Appliances from Portrush Fire Station were deployed to the scene of a 2 storey terraced derelict house well alight in the area. Firefighters using thermal imaging cameras, jets, hosereel jets and wearing breathing apparatus dealt with the incident. A number of nearby properties were evacuated and received smoke damage during the incident.

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service finished at the scene at 9:09am and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
