Illegal parking in Portrush could cost lives. Commenting on a growing trend of public parking in an area specifically reserved for RNLI personnel Alderman Norman Hillis UUP said that lives could be lost if RNLI crew members cannot get to emergency call outs because of opportunistic or careless parking in RNLI only zones at Portrush Harbour.

“Whilst it is great that Portrush and the Harbour area continues to attract large numbers of visitors, it is essential that areas designated for RNLI or the Coastguard are kept clear to allow essential access by the emergency services.

I have spoken to senior officers at the Council and requested that action is taken.”
