Injured motorcyclist in ‘best possible care’

The mother of the motorcyclist who was airlifted to hospital yesterday with “serious injuries” after a crash on Benone Strand has said that her son Russell is off life support and is in the best care possible at the Royal Victoria.

Taking to social media this afternoon she said “I’ve had lots of messages asking about our son Russell. Can’t reply to all texts so just thought I wud give a wee update .Russ is off life support and having the best care possible at the Royal . I’ve never been so scared in all my life and helpless. Thank u all for your messages.”

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesperson said they dispatched one emergency crew, the Charity Air Ambulance and HEMS team to the beach yesterday afternoon.
