Alliance councillor Chris McCaw has joined calls for local parents and the community to lodge support for Integrated status for Ballyhackett Primary School.
“The move to transform Ballyhackett into an integrated school is being driven by parents. This shows the level of commitment to the future of the school, which has been at the heart of the community for over 150 years. The school already has a tradition of welcoming children from all sections of the community, so a move to integrated status is a natural progression.”
Cllr McCaw continued, “Integrated education is consistently shown to be massively popular with parents. People see integrated education as breaking down the barriers in our society and educating our children together is key to breaking down divisions.
I would urge people who are also enthusiastic about the proposal to lodge their support by writing to the Area Planning Policy Team, Department of Education, Rathgael House, Balloo Road, Bangor, Co. Down BT19 7PR or by emailing [email protected] as soon as possible.”
