DUP MLA Maurice Bradley has said that a multi-agency approach is needed to prevent further trouble from so-called boy racers in the resorts of Portrush and Portstewart.
Bradley has spoken to numerous traders and residents following media coverage showing what he described as ‘outrageous scenes’ in Portstewart Promenade on Sunday evening.
“I spoke with the Council’s Chief Executive on Tuesday and also with the PSNI.
“Scenes like this cannot be allowed to continue.
“This is damaging for our local businesses, who have had a hard enough time this year, it also damages the image that Portstewart and Portrush– our premier tourist towns, sends out to the rest of Northern Ireland.
“I am hopeful that a multi-agency group, involving traders and residents alongside the PSNI, Council and the Department for Infrastructure so that we do not have the same problems again for next summer.”
