Special transport arrangements were put into place for golf fans travelling to the 2017 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation at Portstewart Golf Club on July 4 – 9 2017.

Translink joined forces with Tourism NI, the European Tour, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Department for Infrastructure – Roads and the PSNI to devise a suitable transport plan for the high profile event. The event attracted just short of 100,000 visitors to Portstewart.

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community this evening, A Translink spokesperson said:

“Our Transport Plan for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open was a great success.

“Coaches operated from towns and cities across Northern Ireland providing direct travel to the event and the frequency of the local 140 Ulsterbus service was enhanced at peak times for the duration of the tournament.

“There were almost 40 thousand journeys made on our Park and Ride shuttles to Portstewart”.
