MLA Jim Allister To Pursue Legal Action Over Portstewart Hotel Plan

MLA Jim Allister is to pursue legal action over Causeway Coast & Glen’s decision to approve plans for the hotel beside the NW200 paddock.

Causeway Coast Community understands that MLA Jim Allister will challenge the decision at a High Court in the coming months.

In 2017 a previous threat of judicial review led to withdrawal of the planning application.  At that time Mr Allister said a proposed 120 bedroom hotel between Portrush and Portstewart is too “brash and in your face”.

In January Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council approved plans for the Merrow Hotel and Spa, a £20 million, four star hotel complex in Portstewart.  Pioneered by C&V Developments Ltd and leading hotel management company, Interstate Europe Hotels & Resorts, the four star, luxurious complex located right on the coastline, plans to create over 100 hotel jobs on completion.
