A JUDGE jailed a man for two months for drugs offences but told the defendant he was still young enough to turn his life around.
District Judge Peter King was speaking to Adam Raymond McDaid (25), with addresses listed on charge sheets as Church Street in Portstewart and Clooney Road in Derry/Londonderry.
The defendant was in possession of pregablin on July 8 this year and cannabis and diazepam on July 30.
Defence solicitor Don Mahoney said they were “small amounts of drugs”.
Jailing the defendant at Coleraine Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, the judge told the defendant, who had a previous record: “At some stage there is going to have to be a reckoning as to how you want to proceed with life, either constantly rotating in and out of Maghaberry, or dealing with the underlying issues”.
He continued: “You are still a relatively young man and there is still an opportunity to deal with the issues”.
