A judge has warned a man to be careful who he drinks with.
District Judge Peter King was speaking to John Crichton (39), of Killyvally Park in Garvagh.
The defendant appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on September 24 and pleaded guilty to a charge of being disorderly at Killyvally Park during an incident on June 17 this year. Other charges including assault; making a threat to kill; possessing a knife in a public place and causing criminal damage to a t-shirt were withdrawn by a prosecution lawyer.
The court heard police arrested the defendant at 12.10am on June 17 and Crichton was extremely verbally abusive towards officers. Defence solicitor Denise Gillan said her client wished to apologise to the police and the court for his actions.
She added: “On this occasion, he thought he would match his companion drink for drink”. Fining Crichton £100, Judge King told him: “Be careful how much you drink and who you drink with as well”.
