Speaking to Causeway Coast Community shortly after the launch, Councillor William McCandless said “Congratulations to our Council officers who organised the Peace IV community launch in Coleraine town centre on Sat. 28/10.
There was a varied programme which included lambeg drummers, fifers, pipers and the Dominic Graham Irish dancers. This gave a flavour of the rich diversity of culture and music we enjoy.
As the incoming chair of the Peace IV committee on Council I was delighted to be in attendance at the launch of this programme in Coleraine.
What is Peace IV all about? It is to support and assist with creating a more cohesive society through enhancement of shared spaces and services. The aim is to increase understanding and expression of our culture and history and our people and places. The three priority areas will be :- children and young people, shared spaces and services and building positive relations.
This is a cross community project supported by the E.U. Peace IV programme.
