‘Looking out for local people’ – Councillor Mulholland

1 Mins read
BT Coleraine

Councillor Mulholland in a recent meeting with the NIHE, put forward concerns from local residents living within the Portrush and Portstewart areas. She would like to congratulate the NIHE staff for their quick response in dealing with some of these issues and has since notified the local residents with the updates.

At the full council meeting last week , Councillor Mulholland also highlighted the continued need for long term affordable private rentals within areas like Portstewart and Portrush and that not only are they a rare find but also are in many cases out of reach of some people, such as single parents, one-income families, people on lower incomes and young people in general.

This needs to be an alternative option if the NIHE waiting lists are to be managed. She requested that the NIHE factor in this need when dealing with addressing the overall housing need in these areas.
