Police followed a Macosquin man as he overtook a number of cars at speed on the Dunhill Road and recorded him going at up to 90mph, Coleraine Magistrates Court heard on Friday.

Simon William Moore (42), of Ramsey Park, had the speeding offence in a 60mph zone detected in July last year. At court he pleaded guilty and also admitted failing to produce his driving licence to police.

The defendant represented himself in court and said: “I have no excuse”. District Judge Liam McNally said it was a “very fast speed” and gave the defendant three penalty points and a £150 fine for the excess speed matter and a one year conditional discharge in relation to the licence offence.
