Major 999 operation underway off Fairhead

Multiple emergency services have been scrambled to Fairhead outside Ballycastle. The operation started shortly after 1pm this afternoon.

Police, HM coastguard, Air Ambulance, Red Bay RNLI, NIAS, and HM Coastguard rescue helicopter from Prestwick are involved.

It is understood an elderly man has fallen from a considerable height.

A police spokesperson said ;

“There is an ongoing multi-agency search and rescue operation at Fair Head near Ballycastle.

“The Fair Head car park has been closed to the public for use by emergency services and police would ask motorists to avoid the area to allow emergency vehicles access to the site. There are no further details at present.”
