Man (64) is charged with driving while unfit on Easter Tuesday

A 64-year-old Loughgiel man accused of driving whilst unfit on Easter Tuesday this year at Glenaan Road near Cushendall appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday.

John Brendan Carey, of Corkey Road, is alleged to have committed offences on April 23 this year.

Regarding that date he is also accused of using a Citroen Berlingo van without insurance and he also faces charges regarding a driving licence and failing to provide a specimen of breath.

A prosecutor said they had still to receive the case file from police.

The defendant’s solicitor was Briege Martin.

The case was adjourned to July 8.
